Bordet Gengou Agar Base is the classic medium for detecting and isolating Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis, the agents of whooping cough. Prepared with added glycerol and defibrinated blood, it supports these highly fastidious organisms and reveals their characteristic hemolysis. Tetrathionate HiVeg Broth Base, Hajna is an animal-component-free selective broth for the enrichment of Salmonella from food and clinical specimens. Built on the plant-based HiVeg system, it uses vegetable peptones in place of animal peptones. An iodine-iodide solution added before use generates tetrathionate, which Salmonella tolerate and use while competing coliforms and other flora are held back. The Hajna formulation improves recovery and downstream selective isolation. Dehydrated powder, store in a cool dry place. Packaged as 500 g.

HAYFLICK agar is a specialized, nutrient-enriched solid medium formulated to support the growth of fastidious mycoplasmal species. The medium is supplemented with horse serum, which provides essential lipids, including cholesterol and long-chain fatty acids, required for membrane synthesis and cellular proliferation. To fulfill nucleic acid precursor requirements, exogenous deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is incorporated as a source of purine and pyrimidine bases, compensating for the de novo biosynthetic deficiencies inherent to Mycoplasma spp. Metabolic activity of viable mycoplasmas leads to acid–base shifts within the medium, which are detected via the phenol red pH indicator, resulting in a visible color change from red to yellow or purple, thereby signaling active growth. The inclusion of penicillin G suppresses the growth of background bacterial flora while maintaining selective support for mycoplasmas.

Dissolve 20 grams in 1 liter distilled water. Then adjust the pH to 7.2. Heat and frequently agitate to completely dissolve. Material is specially granulated to reduce dust and increase solubility rate. Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes.

Simply dissolve 25 capsules per 1 Liter of distilled water. Water must be 37°C or warmer to completely dissolve gelatin capsule. Agitate. Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes before use. Buffer is set for 7.0 ± 0.2 at 25°C using a 10mM solution of Tris/Tris HCl. pH will vary depending on temperature.
